Lutein

Lutein is an antioxidant found in many plants. It is from the carotenoid family, which consists of naturally occurring fat-soluble pigments in plants. It's basically a yellow pigment. It is the main carotenoid found in the macula, a tiny part of the retina responsible for central vision.

Lutein has been shown effective in the treatment of cataracts.¹

Lutein works extremely well in protecting the retina against sunlight damage.² Supplementation with 6 mg of Lutein daily may decrease the occurrence of macular degeneration by more than 50%.³

Most Americans do not get enough Lutein in their diets. Research has suggested 6 to 20 mg of Lutein per day are needed to realize its health benefits.
